Whether your are talking about coaching , decisions-making, dealing with limited beliefs that impact your daily professional and personal activities, it is important to ENGAGE the Body . . not just the 'mind'! Advances in neuroscience have assisted coaching and other caring professionals to better understand the connection between mind, body and spirit. Within the body, we focus on the 'head, heart and gut' and try to find 'agreement' between at least two of these neuroscience 'decision-influencers/makers!
This new focus is highlighted in body-centered coaching and in resilience coaching that has become a center-piece of client needs in the context of pandemics such as COVID-19 and much of the distress throughout the world regarding diversity and equality.
You can learn about Body-Centered coaching in a course Pat teaches at MentorCoach, LLC (www.mentorcoach.com) and you can also become educated and certified in Body-Centered Coaching . . . working with Patricia Hinton Walker and Marlena Field. The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) incorporates strategies similar to those taught in body-centered coaching. This important CRM Model is a powerful model and highlights Resilience interventions through community-outreach and coaching approaches. Having attended one CRM session for health care providers and scheduled for August, 2020 CRM Certification program, this model will be highlighted in upcoming Body-Centered coaching classes that I regularly teach. CRM strategies focus on 'noticing' when individuals/clients need to 'ground themselves' and notice what is happening within the body related to stress and other physical and emotional challenges. CRM is a well-researched and well-documented model that beyond body-centered coaching addresses resilience. This approach, as mentioned above among other strategies focuses attention on the body is a key area of focus for Resilience interventions and self-care.
